The TYR Tactical® Female EPIC™ KCTX Assaulter's Carrier is a plate carrier designed for women from the first pattern piece, not a smaller version of a male vest. Its patented female shape and gusseted plate pocket relieve the tension and pressure that hard plates normally place on the body.
The carrier is the base of a complete system: soft armour, cummerbund, collar, throat, upper arm and groin protection, all built on TYR Tactical's patented integrated ballistic framework.
Profile Equipment supplies the system to the Dutch armed forces, from measuring and fitting to delivery.
A carrier shaped for the wearer, not adapted to her.
Armour only protects when it sits where it should. A carrier cut for a male torso rides on the chest and shoulders of a female wearer and leaves room at the waist. The Female EPIC™ starts from a patented female shape, so the carrier follows the body and the load is carried where it belongs.
The plate pocket is gusseted. It relieves the tension and pressure normally placed on the body by hard plates in a classic plate pocket configuration, and it accommodates the VOSS plate style.
The body-facing side uses an antimicrobial, FR-treated padded spacer mesh for breathability and moisture protection. EPIC™ low profile shoulder pads keep the shoulder line clean under a rifle stock or pack straps.

On and off with one hand.
The Taktic buckle system provides a quick connect, so the user can don and doff the plate carrier utilizing one hand. The Flat Fish Cummerbund-DSX uses the same quick release and closes on 4-way stretch Tweave, so the carrier stays tight to the body while the wearer moves and breathes.
The cummerbund carries removable armour inserts and a plate pocket of its own, and attaches to the back of the plate carrier with Velcro®. Collar and throat protection attach without impairing the cutaway function.

A scalable platform for the full loadout.
The Female EPIC™ is compatible with TYR Tactical's complete line of armoured accessories. Zippers on the back take the Assaulter's Zip-On Back Panels, a QASM buckle system and PALS webbing take pouches and placards, and a flush admin chest pocket with internal elastic keepers holds the small items.
Hydration and communication tabs route hoses and cables. Loop attachment points on the back of the vest and two side wing adapters complete the platform.

TYR Tactical's patented integrated ballistic framework increases structural integrity and reduces back face deformation. Each layer has its own job.
Spacer mesh
The body-facing material uses advanced antimicrobial spacer mesh. Its airflow chamber technology decreases hot spots on the body.
Patented Ballistic Vein®
Increases load carriage performance, provides a rigid platform and reduces fatigue. It stabilizes the soft armour inserts and reduces blunt force trauma by up to 50%.
Soft armour
Helps absorb the impact from firearm projectiles and fragmentation. The NFA2/DK package exceeds Level II and the USSOCOM fragmentation requirements.
Hard plate
Provides additional protection from rifle rounds. The gusseted pocket takes the VOSS plate style.
Patented PV®
Increases the lifespan of the carrier by up to 7–10 times that of regular 500 denier carriers, while providing structure and improving both abrasion and fire resistance.

Cutaway ballistic collar
Attaches to the carrier without impairing the cutaway function. PV® material, padded spacer mesh and an adapter for bicep attachment. Sizes XS, S/M and L/XL.
Cutaway ballistic throat
Closes the gap at the front of the collar, again without impairing the cutaway function. Sizes XS, S/M and L/XL.
Bicep/deltoid upper arm protection
Attaches via loop locks to the ballistic collar. Allows full articulation of the shoulder and complete range of motion. Sizes S/M and L/XL.
MV groin protector
Attaches to the front plate pocket via loop locks, or to the tactical base belt via adapter straps. PALS webbing and locations for tourniquets and breaching rounds.

The female carrier size relates to the plate size and the operator's chest width. The cummerbund is sized separately on the waist, so chest and waist do not have to follow the same size.

Questions we get asked.
Is this a smaller version of the male EPIC carrier?
No. The Female EPIC™ has its own patented female shape and a gusseted plate pocket that relieves the pressure hard plates normally place on the body. The soft armour is available in a gender neutral and a female version.
Which plates fit the carrier?
The plate pocket accommodates the VOSS plate style, 22.99 cm wide × 27.99 cm high × 2.54 cm deep (9.05" × 11.02" × 1"). The plate pocket is the same in every carrier size.
How do I choose the right size?
Carrier size follows chest circumference, cummerbund size follows waist circumference. For waists from 58 to 66 cm there is an XX-Small cummerbund, used with the X-Small carrier. We measure your people on location and translate the measurements into a size distribution.
What does Profile Equipment do besides supplying the vest?
We measure, run fitting sessions and deliver the complete system. We also make alterations to existing textile equipment, so the gear your people already have keeps working with the new carrier.
Is the system in service?
Yes. Profile Equipment supplies the Female EPIC™ system to the Dutch armed forces.
What protection level does the soft armour offer?
The NFA2/DK soft armour package exceeds Level II, tested to NIJ 0101.06, and the USSOCOM fragmentation requirements. The package is 0.23" (5.8 mm) thick with an areal density of 0.78 psf (3.8 kg/m²). Ask us for the test data that goes with your requirement.
How is the system cleaned?
Remove the ballistic panels first. Wipe the panels down with a damp cloth and mild detergent; do not immerse, machine wash or dry them in the sun. Scrub the outer carrier with a nylon brush and a mild non-phosphorus detergent and air-dry it indoors. The nylon is treated to reduce IR signature, and a phosphorus based detergent breaks that treatment down.
